Pain Management & Rehab Associates offers complete
medical, diagnostic and evaluation services for problems of pain, weakness, numbness and
physical disability. Specialized diagnostic tests are available for arthritis, back pain,
muscle problems, pinched nerves, sports injuries, work-related disability and automobile
accident related trauma.
Imaging:
X-Ray services are available at our office so the doctor can review actual X-Rays
for diagnosis of a pain problem at the time of the patient visit. Other imaging studies
including MRI, CT, and ultrasound are readily available upon
referral by our physicians.
Bone density measurement imaging is available to determine
bone strength for osteoporosis screening and monitoring of osteoporosis treatment.
Electrodiagnosis:
Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) examinations aid in diagnosis
of injuries or diseases affecting the muscles and nerves. All examinations by our physical
medicine and rehabilitation physicians are objective, standardized, reproducible and
reliable. Electrical testing provides safe outpatient screening for many conditions,
including carpal tunnel syndrome, uInar nerve problems, pinched nerves affecting the neck
or back, post polio syndrome, muscular dystrophy and muscle fatigue disorders.
Evoked Potentials:
Our Evoked Potential (EP) laboratory offers Visual Evoked Potential (VEP), Auditory Evoked
Potential (AEP), and Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SEP) testing. These objective tests
help diagnose the underlying causes of blurred vision, double vision, dizziness,
headaches, ringing in the ears, and numbness. Important clinical applications include
headaches, closed head injury, inner ear dysfunction, strokes, spinal cord injury,
multiple sclerosis, and thoracic outlet syndrome.
Circulation Testing:
Noninvasive Doppler testing is available to screen for circulation problems affecting the
blood flow in the arms and legs. Specialized testing is available for problems involving
hardening of the arteries, blockage of the arteries, thoracic outlet syndrome and problems
with muscle cramping related to exercise.
Breathing Tests:
Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) can help evaluate chest pain or breathing problems from
injuries as well as toxic exposure to fumes and gases. PFT results help identify
individuals who could benefit from the use of inhalers as well as those who must change
their work environment or personal habits.
Psychology Testing:
Using standardized psychometric testing and interview data, our clinical psychologists
offer valuable assistance in diagnosis and treatment planning. Psychosocial,
neuropsychological, and vocational testing evaluation services are available. Reports
include interpretation and discussion of findings, psychological diagnoses, and suggested
treatment strategies. Common indications for psychological evaluation include disability
precluding return to usual occupation, chronic pain unresponsive to conventional
treatment, and memory or concentration problems due to brain injury.
Disability Determination:
Our physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians are specialists in disability
determination and independent medical evaluation. Comprehensive examination including
specialized on site testing can provide a clear expert opinion in a timely fashion.
